In the Gospel of Mark, Jesus reveals himself as the Suffering Messiah. To be Jesus´ follower does not just mean to embrace his manner of living but to carry one´s cross after him. ON THE WAY OF THE CROSS reflects on the person of Jesus and the challenge of discipleship based on Mark´s Gospel which is used extensively for the Liturgical Year B.
GIL A. ALINSANGAN hails from Alimodian, Iloilo and is a member of the SOCIETY OF ST. PAUL, a religious concregation devoted to the apostolate of communications media. He was ordained priest in 1980. In 1989, he ordained his Licentiate in Sacred Scriptures from the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome. He was Provincial Superior of the SSp Philippine-Macau Province for two terms and Rector of Saint Paul Seminary Foundation in Silang, Cavite. He edits and writes for the missalette Sambuhay and the litugical-biblical diary 365 Days with the Lord. He also teaches Sacred Scriptures at San Carlos Seminary Graduate School of Theology, CICM Maryhill School of Theology and Don Bosco Center of Studies. He is in the executive board of the Episcopal Commission for the Biblical Apostolate (ECBA) and the Catholic Biblical Association of the Philippines (CBAP). He pulished In Peacefull Stillness in 2001, The Gospel of the Cross in 2002, and Into the Deep in 2010.
